- Tufo Comtura Prima 32
(100% is best)
The Comtura Prima is Tufo's most all-round tubeless-ready road bike tire and it's Tufo's answer to tires like the Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR, Pirelli P Zero Race TLR RS, Schwalbe Pro One TLE, Vittoria Corsa Pro and other similar tires. This market segment is highly competitive, and we've seen manufacturers release new tires over the past 2-3 years that come with significant performance improvements.
We already tested the Tufo Comtura Prima in the 28 mm size back in 2023, and at that time, it was only available in the 25 and 28 mm sizes. With the trend towards larger road bike tires in full swing, Tufo now offers the Comtura Prima in 32 mm, which gives us a good opportunity to retest and see if Tufo has improved its top tire compared to our 2023 28 mm sample.
We dived back into the specifications of the Comtura Prima, and we now see that Tufo specifies the tread compound as a liquid rubber, "Grip Silica," that offers exceptional grip in all conditions. We also notice that Tufo now specifies a "Protective Rubber Ply" beneath the main tread compound. This differently colored rubber offers additional protection and serves as a wear indicator, becoming visible before you wear the tire down to the casing.
The Comtura Prima also comes with a Vectran anti-puncture breaker, which is wrapped within the casing's layers rather than placed on top of the casing. This is a more advanced manufacturing technique that increases total puncture resistance at no cost to performance. Together with the Protective Rubber Ply, the Tufo offers best-in-class puncture resistance while keeping weight down to just 265 grams for the 32 mm size.
Just like the 25 and 28 mm sizes, the new 32 mm size is available with both black and beige sidewalls. We've tested the black sidewall version and will compare it to the 28 mm Comtura Prima and a selection of the best-performing all-around road bike tires from competing brands.

All numbers are for a single tire at a speed of 29 km/h / 18 mph and a load of 42.5 kg / 94 lbs. Use the formula: RR (Watts) = CRR * speed (m/s) * load (N) to calculate rolling resistance at a given speed and load. |

Conclusion
- Tufo Comtura Prima 32
(100% is best)
The Tufo Comtura Prima in the 32 mm size performs pretty much spot on to the 28 mm sample we tested back in 2023. We do see a 10% improvement in the tread puncture resistance test, but we're unsure if this is an actual improvement or merely the margin of error of our puncture test. Wet grip also comes in a bit higher, but we see this more often with larger sizes of the same tires, which perform a bit better in this test.
The rating is slightly lower for the 32 mm size, but that's mainly because it is relative to other tires at the time of the test, and many tires with performance improvements have been released over the past 2-3 years.
If weight is a very important factor to you, the Comtura Prima in the 25, 28, or 32 mm size should be at the top of your list. This tire offers the best weight to (tread) puncture resistance ratio of any tubeless-ready tire on the market today.
