- Tufo Comtura Prima TT 28
(100% is best)
The Comtura Prima TT is the latest addition to Tufo's road bike tire lineup, and it's now their fastest tire. We already tested the non-TT version of the Comtura Prima in 2023 (read our review) and were impressed by its strong overall performance. The new TT version of the Comtura Prima is lighter and faster but offers less protection, making it more of a racing / time-trial tire than an all-round tire.
The main difference between the regular Prima and the Prima TT is that the Prima TT doesn't come with the Vectran anti-puncture belt, which obviously makes it faster but more prone to punctures. We also noticed the casing is now specified as 400/665 TPI. In comparison, the regular Prima's casing was specified at 210/375 TPI, suggesting a potential change in casing construction or in how they count the casing layers.
We're not sure the compound has been updated, but we wouldn't be surprised if this tire comes with an improved compound. The difference in the rolling resistance tests is bigger than we usually see from simply removing the anti-puncture belt. If the compound has been improved, it didn't affect the performance in the wet grip tests, as we also see an improvement there.
For now, the Comtura Prima TT is only available in the 28-622 size with black sidewalls, and that's the tire that today's test is all about. We've compared it to the regular Comtura Prima and a wide selection of comparable tires from other manufacturers.

| The Road Bike section is a multi tire size section, air pressures have been adjusted to the measured casing width. All numbers are for a single tire at a speed of 29 km/h / 18 mph and a load of 42.5 kg / 94 lbs. Use the formula: RR (Watts) = CRR * speed (m/s) * load (N) to calculate rolling resistance at a given speed and load. |

Conclusion
- Tufo Comtura Prima TT 28
(100% is best)
The Tufo Comtura Prima TT is the best choice when you're looking for a fast tire without compromising wet grip or puncture resistance. Yes, you can find faster tires (see our road bike overview). Still, the 2-3 watts savings (per tire) will cost you quite a lot of wet grip, 5 to 15 points of tread puncture resistance, less tread thickness, and most of those tires also come with a much smaller tread than the extremely wide tread we find on the Tufo Comtura Prima TT (51% tread cover!).
When we compare the Comtura Prima TT to the regular Comtura Prima, we see that the Prima TT is much faster than we would have expected from simply removing the Vectran anti-puncture layer. According to the specifications, the Prima TT should be 35 grams lighter, but in reality, we only found 21 grams between our samples of the Comtura Prima and Prima TT, and that makes the potential for the Prima TT even better if you happen to find a sample that comes closer to the specified weight.
