The Schwalbe G-One Bite SuperGround with Addix SpeedGrip compound is one of the 4 gravel bike tires that Schwalbe offers in its G-One range of gravel bike tires. With its medium-sized knobs, the G-One Bite fits right in between the G-One Allround with its many small knobs and the G-One Ultrabite that offers a very aggressive tread pattern.

We've already tested the G-One Speed (read our review), G-One Allround (read our review), and G-One Ultrabite (read our review) a couple of months back and we weren't impressed by any of them. The G-One Bite is a very similar tire as it makes use of the same (evolution line) construction and compound which doesn't get our hopes up that the Bite can surprise us.

What we get is Schwalbe's tubeless-ready 67 TPI SuperGround casing (formerly known as TLE) and the SpeedGrip mixture of their Addix compound. As the name suggests, the SpeedGrip compound is a mixture between fast-rolling performance and grip. Unfortunately, and unlike some of Schwalbe's MTB tires, it's the only compound they offer on their entire range of CX and Gravel bike tires.

The G-One Bite is available in a good range of sizes that starts with the 40-622 size and moves up to the quite large 50-622 and 54-584 sizes. As our CX/Gravel section covers tires that range from 32-622 up to 42-622, this is a test of the 40-622 (700x38c) version.

The CX/Gravel section is a multi tire size section, air pressures have been adjusted to the measured casing width.

All numbers are for a single tire at a speed of 29 km/h / 18 mph and a load of 42.5 kg / 94 lbs.

Use the formula: RR (Watts) = CRR * speed (m/s) * load (N) to calculate rolling resistance at a given speed and load.

If you've been following us for some time, you probably know that we're quite critical of Schwalbe's Addix compounds. The G-One range is now another prime example of what goes wrong with their compound mixing; there just isn't any consistency.

Our rolling resistance tests show the G-One Bite is now the fastest rolling tire in the G-One range which just doesn't make sense. And if you're wondering if our results are wrong, we retested the G-One Allround this week as this is confusing to us as well.

It's hard to judge the G-One series because of the inconsistency in the compounds. When purely looking at the results of our tests, we feel the G-One Bite is a no-brainer over the G-One Allround compare. The G-One Speed is different as it contains an extra layer of anti-puncture material and The G-One Ultrabite, with its very aggressive tread, can also have its uses.

We get to a rating of 2.8 out of 5, which is still recommended if this tire exactly fits your needs.
