- Vittoria Corsa Pro Tube Type 28
(100% is best)

The Vittoria Corsa is a cotton tire that's been around in various editions for as long as we can remember. We tested the "Open Corsa CX III" in 2014 (read our review), the "Corsa G+ 1.0" in 2016 (read our review), the "Corsa G+ 2.0" in 2018 (read our review), the "Corsa G+ 2.0 TLR" in 2020 (read our review), and the "Corsa Pro TLR" in 2023 (read our review). When Vittoria released the latest Corsa Pro TLR, there was no tube-type-specific edition, and that's something Vittoria rectified a while back with the Corsa Pro Tube Type, which we have on test today.
The Corsa Pro Tube Type utilizes all the latest technology from the Corsa Pro TLR, with the most significant difference being that the tube-type version saves weight when compared to the TLR version. When comparing the 28 mm size of both tires, we observe a 25 gram weight difference in favor of the tube-type version. Upon comparing our measured weights, we find a discrepancy of just 11 grams, which is significantly less than the typical difference between tubeless-ready and tube-type tires from the same manufacturer.
We can't find much information on where this weight saving comes from, and we're unsure about the exact differences between these tires. The weight savings alone would be worth it if you plan to run inner tubes. Another advantage of the tube-type version is its slightly lower price.
The Corsa Pro Tube Type is available in the 26-622, 28-622, and 30-622 sizes, with the 28-622 and 30-622 sizes being hookless compatible. We've tested the 28-622 size and are going to compare it to the TLR version, the old Corsa G+ 2.0, and a variety of comparable tires.

The Road Bike section is a multi tire size section, air pressures have been adjusted to the measured casing width. All numbers are for a single tire at a speed of 29 km/h / 18 mph and a load of 42.5 kg / 94 lbs. Use the formula: RR (Watts) = CRR * speed (m/s) * load (N) to calculate rolling resistance at a given speed and load. |

Conclusion
- Vittoria Corsa Pro Tube Type 28
(100% is best)
When comparing the tube-type version of the Vittoria Corsa Pro to the previous generation Corsa G+ 2.0 (read our review), we find that their performance is quite similar. We do see a notable 10% boost in the wet grip tests, which is a welcome upgrade. This improvement builds on the significant enhancements we've seen in the wet grip tests since introducing our test nearly four years ago.
We observe a slight decline in puncture resistance and sidewall thickness, but it is unclear whether this is solely due to the comparison of a 28 mm cotton tire with a 25 mm cotton tire. The thing with cotton tires is that some part of the sidewalls consists of just one layer, and this one-layer part is generally larger on the larger sizes. Some of the weight savings may come from the sidewalls, with Vittoria opting to make the 1-layer part slightly larger on the tube-type version.
If you still run tube-type tires and prefer cotton tires, the new tube-type version of the Vittoria Corsa Pro is a worthy successor to the Corsa G+ 2.0.
